Brassicas are part of the cabbage family. Also known as cruciferous vegetables. They are a cool weather crop and like to be planted in early spring, a few weeks before the last frost, or at the end of summer.
Brassicas are very nutrient rich and worth adding to your garden, and diet! They are packed with Vitamins like, C, E, and K. are a good source of fiber and folate as well as antioxidants.
I’m no expert at growing brassicas quite yet, but I’ll keep you posted if I become one.
I’m fascinated by companion planting so I love to consider the benefits or risks of having other plants nearby. I can really start spiraling down the rabbit hole when trying to figure out the what, when, and where when planting. I’ve started to create these little cards to keep my mind in the game.
